June Brunch Book Club

  • Megan's 55-57 The Pavement London, England, SW4 0JQ United Kingdom (map)

Celebrate Pride Month with Brunch Book Club this June as we dive into Stag Dance by Torrey Peters. With stories that are sharp, funny, and unflinching, this book is a celebration of identity, desire, and the queer experience.

We’ll start with an online discussion, unpacking the book’s themes and characters in our signature safe and welcoming space. Then, it’s time for brunch at Megan’s Old Town in Clapham, where Mediterranean-inspired dishes and a stunning setting await. Beneath the fairy lights and olive tree, we’ll continue our conversations and toast to community and inclusion.

Wrap up the day with drinks and connection at a nearby bar. This Pride Month, join us for a celebration of queer stories, delicious food, and the incredible power of community.

Megan’s Old Town

Megan's began its life as a small antiques shop on the Kings Road in 2002. We have since opened in more neighbourhoods & Megan's has blossomed in to the much-loved community hub that it is today. We serve Mediterranean-influenced, chef-made dishes, created by our Turkish Exec Head Chef, Sercan, using the highest quality ingredients.

Sit beneath a real olive tree at the Clapham Old Town restaurant, which in true Megan's style, is draped in fairy lights.

Stag Dance by Torrey Peters

From the adventures of a lonely logger who, deep in the forest, joins his workmates to dance dressed as a woman, to the story of an obsessive boarding-school romance, to the dizzying spectacle of a gender apocalypse brought about by an unstable ex-girlfriend, Peters' keen eye for the rough edges of trans community and desire reveals fresh possibilities.

Acidly funny and breathtaking in its scope, with the inventive audacity of Lauren Groff or Jennifer Egan, Stag Dance provokes, unsettles and delights.
